Willie M. Perez

Willie M. Perez passed away peacefully at his home in Beeville, Texas on March 24, 2025, lovingly surrounded by his family. He was 87.

Willie was born January 1, 1938, in Clareville to Lupe L. Perez, Sr. and Rosa (Martinez) Perez. He was a proud graduate of Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and dedicated his life to serving others through his work as a barber, where he built lasting relationships with his clients. Willie also enjoyed boxing in his spare time. He was not only skilled with his hands but was a jack of all trades, possessing the remarkable ability to build or fix anything that came his way. His caring nature was complemented by a love for storytelling, playing pool and spending quality time with his family. Willie found joy in reading and drawing, always with a humorous remark on life, often saying, "I'm doing okay for a young man."

On June 27, 1970, Willie married the love of his life, Alicia Garza, in Beeville. Their union was built on love, respect and shared values, contributing significantly to the warmth of their family. Willie was a devoted member of Our Lady of Victory Church, where he cherished his faith and community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa and Lupe Perez, Sr.; his loving wife, Alicia G. Perez; a brother, Manuel Perez; and three sisters, Eloisa Madrid, Alcaria Gallegos and Josepha Casarez.

Willie leaves behind a loving family which includes his son, Willie Perez, Jr.; his devoted daughters, Debbie (David) Ponce, Peggy (Sir Jim) Zertuche and Nelly Rose Perez; and two brothers, Jesus "Chero" Perez and Lupe Perez. Willie was a proud grandfather to Anthony Ponce, Christopher Ponce, Michael Ponce, Eric Willow, Alec Zertuche, William Perez, Michele Garcia, Angel Garcia, Abigail Perez and Alexis Perez; as well as five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, March 28, at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville, with a Rosary to be recited at 12 o’clock.

The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum officiating. Willie will be laid to rest in the San Pedro Cemetery in Clareville.

Pallbearers will be John Perez, Steve Perez, Jason Perez, Ricky Casarez, Jaime Perez and Willie Perez, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sir Jim Zertuche, David Ponce, Anthony Ponce, Christopher Ponce, Michael Ponce, Eric Willow and Alec Zertuche.
