Siria Canales

Siria A. Canales, 88, of Tynan, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2011. Mrs. Canales was born June 18, 1923, in Charco to Juan and Emilia (Aguilar) Alaniz. She married Saturino Canales on June 22, 1974, and was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Ofelia Garcia and Virginia Vidaurri; and a brother, Pioquinto Alaniz. Survivors include a son, Juan Garcia of Tynan; a sister, Ageda Lopez of Beeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Thomas Sebastian officiating. Burial will follow in Waldheim Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pedro Barrientes Jr., David Barrientes, Jose Angel Menchaca Sr., Jose Angel Menchaca Jr., Albert Menchaca Sr., Jose Jimenez, Ramiro Castillo, Joel Vidaurri, Guadalupe Garcia and Javier Barrientes.
