Santiago Silvas Jr.

Santiago S. Silvas Jr., 71, of Beeville, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Mr. Silvas was born Dec. 27, 1944, in Beeville to Severa Salinas and Santiago Silvas Sr. He married Carmen Pena Silvas in Beeville on July 26, 1976, and was retired. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and enjoyed welding and mechanic work. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen P. Silvas, on Sept. 6, 1995; parents; stepson, Thomas DeLaCruz and brothers, Victor Silvas and Juan Silvas. Survivors include two daughters, Severa (Lauriano) Cruz and Aurora (Felix) Cruz; three step-children, JoAnn DelaCruz Gomez, Marcello (Debbie) DeLaCruz Jr. and Johnny (Lorenna) DeLaCruz; brother, Pablo Silvas; two sisters, Margarita Silvas and Guadalupe Dehoyos; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers will be Severino Dehoyos, Jose Dehoyos, Roland Dehoyos, Mark Dehoyos, Victor Silvas, Joe Silvas, Moses Silvas and Guillermo Romero.
