Ramiro Canas, Sr.

Ramiro Ca�as Sr., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Ramiro was born December 9, 1935, in Los Indios, TX. Ramiro was the youngest of three sons and one daughter, born to Epigmenio Ca�as and Herlinda Garcia Ca�as. He was preceded in death by two sons, Joe and Epigmenio and one daughter, Josie. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rachel Gonzales Ca�as; sons, Ramiro Jr. (Elvia), Juan (Rose) of Sterling, IL, Oscar (Sally) of RockFalls, IL, Epigmenio (Darcy) of Bettendorf, IA, George (Naomi), Freddy and Augustine of Beeville, TX; daughters, Clarita Menchaca of Corpus Christi, TX, Martha (Tony) Lopez of San Antonio, TX, and Rachel (Michael) Garza of Beeville, TX. He had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who he all loved very much. Ramiro worked as a Glacier in Sterling, IL, for 15 years. His passion was his music. He played the accordion and everyone loved his music. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. We would like to thank the staff at Davita Dialysis Center, Woodridge Rehabilitation Nursing Facility, Christus Spohn Hospital, Kindred, Angel Bright, and all others that took part in caring for our father. A gathering of family and friends was held on Monday, January 27, 2014, beginning at 10 a.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with a procession at 12:30 p.m. to Primera Baptist Church for a 1 p.m. memorial service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established
