Ralph James Smith, 55, of Beeville, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Mr. Smith was born June 15, 1957, in Corpus Christi to Ralph E. Smith and Barbara Smith. He was known for his wood working ability, including the intricate detailing of wooden model tractors, which were showcased across the entire U.S. and annually at the Texas Folklife Festival in San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his fiancé, Olga Castaneda; his mother, Barbara Smith; a sister, Pamela Smith; three daughters, Crystal (Gordon) Smith-Shanklin, Kelly Smith, and Lindsey Jo Smith; a son, Randell Smith; and three grandchildren, Casey Schneider and Cooper and Aubrey Smith. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there that morning at 11 o'clock.
