Nicolas "Nick" A. Carabajal, 79, of Beeville, died Thursday, June 30, 2011. Mr. Carabajal was born Aug. 19, 1931, in Bee County to Pedro and Guadalupe (Arrisola) Carabajal. He married Lupe Castillo in New Mexico on Nov. 19, 1952, and was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a heavy equipment operator for Harris Construction for 25 years. He was the owner and operator of Nick Carabajal Materials and owned several trucks that hauled dirt and caliche throughout Bee County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Guadalupe Carabajal; three brothers, Juan Carabajal, Pedro Carabajal and Teodoro Carabajal; and four sisters, Refugia Marin, Victoria Salinas, Teodora Gonzalez and Marcela Mendoza. Survivors include his wife, Lupe C. Carabajal of Beeville; a son, Oscar (Genoveva) Carabajal of Beeville; five daughters, Alicia C. (Pablo) Martinez and Maricella (Robert Lee Steed) Carabajal, both of Beeville, Diana (Luis) Montelongo and Sandra C. (Mark) Rash, both of Corpus Christi, and Herlinda (Orlando) Hernandez of Ingleside; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jaquina Castillo of Olton; and one brother, Cipriano Perez of Beeville. Visitation will be held Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Musical selections will be provided by vocalist Salvador Rincon. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers are Gabriel Carabajal, Paul Martinez, Aaron Rash, Jay Brionez, Matthew Silvas and David J. Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are Diego Carabajal, Gabriel Ryan Carabajal, Matthew Silvas II and Jason R. Cano, Jr. Angelus Funeral Home
