Mary Lou Barbour, 87, passed from this life Monday, August 13, 2018, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and though we will miss her greatly, we rejoice in her promotion!!
Mary Lou was born May 31, 1931 to Roy Rabon Hearon and Gladys Loene Hearon in Durant, OK. Shortly thereafter, they moved west to Ardmore, OK where her 5 siblings were born. She grew up with a love for reading, writing and in school in general. She had an outstanding memory and could name EVERY teacher she ever had in school well into her 80's! She grew up in a strict but loving household and soaked up the generous nature of her parents. After high school, she met the love of her life, Jimmie Barbour and they were soon married and inseparable. She soon found that traveling was the life for her and Jimmie and when they weren't moving, they were sight-seeing all over the country. They would live in over 15 states and spent 2 years in Australia, she had been to every state in the union except Alaska, but not for lack of trying! They settled in Texas for good in 1975, eventually ending up in Beeville in 1977.While they were very happy together, things got even better when they had son #1 Randy! After almost 11 years, they did it again with #2 son Jay! (chronological order only). They finally found their church home in Beeville Baptist where they let her play the piano which was one of her all-time things to do! Outside of wife and mom, she also excelled in volunteering at the local nursing homes for years, trying to brighten the lives of every resident she encountered. When she lost Jimmie in 1994, she was devastated and leaned heavily on her sons and church family to fill that void. She eventually moved to Gardendale, TX to be closer to her son Randy and wife Malinda , her 2 grandsons and 2 sisters. Jay and new wife Lucy came with her and things were good in West Texas. She always missed her church family in Beeville. She has had a hard time this year and it is a blessing she has gone home!!
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Roy Hearon Jr. and sister Ruth Elaine Attaway.
She is survived by son Randy and wife Malinda, grandsons Zachary Taylor, Zane Travis and great-grandson Nolan M. Barbour; son Jay and wife Lucy Barbour of Gardendale, TX; sister Patricia Joyce and husband Ken Adams of Midland, TX; brother Herbert and wife Linda Hearon of El Paso, TX and brother W.C. and wife Jo Hearon of Columbus, Ohio. She had many nieces and nephews scattered all over the U.S. She was known as ‘'meemaw'' to James, Rosanna and Liam Cano of Beeville and Monica Madrid and children Thomas and Maddie of Odessa, TX.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville, TX.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Beeville Baptist Church followed by interment at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Butler, James Hardin, Michael Paul, Glen Killam, Zachary Barbour and Zane Barbour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of time and/or money be made to the Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse or Beeville Baptist Church…Or go to a nursing home and try to brighten the lives of as many residents as you can!! God bless you in your effort.
