Marlene Harris

Marlene A. (Nix) Harris, 63, of Beeville, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011. Mrs. Harris was born June 18, 1948, in Bay City, Mich., to Robert John Nix and Loretta Marie Coughlan. She married Elario Chapa Jr. and was a home health care worker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Nix. Survivors include her husband, Elario Chapa Jr. of Beeville; three children, Todd Harris of Bay City, Mich., Tina (Bruce) Bis of California and Grant (Roberta) Harris of Beeville; a brother, Norm Nix of Albright Shores, Mich.; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 4 p.m. also at the funeral home with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Dennis Vasquez, Henry Chapa, Leroy Chapa, Ringo DeLeon, Thomas Suniga Jr. and Joe Martinez. Angelus Funeral Home
