Maria Martinez

Maria Salome Ruiz Martinez, 100, of Beeville, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010. She was born on Oct. 15, 1909, to Justo Ruiz and Antonia Chapa. She married Precsiliano Martinez, and was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Mrs. Martinez was preceded in death by her husband, Precsiliano Martinez; two sons, Richard Martinez and Lupe Martinez; one daughter, Olivia Borrego; two grandsons, Donald Bonham and Adam P. Martinez; and two sons-in law, Ramon Munoz and Alfredo Gonzales. Survivors include six daughters, Rosa Munoz, Leonora Gonzales, Dora (Theodoro) Garza, Celestina (Emilio) Gutierrez and Mary Bonham, all of Beeville, and Esperanza (Robert) Ashton of Lewisville; one son, Adan Martinez of Beeville; 36 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and 41 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral chapel where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 4 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers will be Ted Garza Jr., Mario Munoz, Johnny Borrego, Rodney Bonham, John Martinez, Freddy Gonzales and David Flores.
