Maria "Little Mary" (Diaz) Ibarra, 87, of Beeville, died Thursday, April 27, 2017. Mrs. Ibarra was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Yorktown, to Nativida Guanteo and Leandro Diaz. She was a known tortilla maker for many years for King Bee, Gerardo's, La Fiesta and City Donut Shop. She loved to cook, cross stitch, read mystery books and do crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Rubentino Ibarra Sr.; life partner, William Ortega; son, Rubentino Ibarra Jr.; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Ibarra; son-in-law, Romaldo Ray Camacho Sr.; sisters, Martina Garcia, Ologaria Molina, Anastacia Ramos, Ascencion Vasquez, Ramona Valdez and Manuela Perez; and brothers, Leandro, Lazaro, Jose and Pioquinto Diaz. Survivors include three daughters, Biatriz (Auturo) Contreras of Beeville, Carmen (Ruell) Gauna of Flour Bluff and Gloria Camacho of Goliad; three sons, Ernest Ibarra Sr., Rudy Diaz Sr. and Chris Diaz, all of Beeville; a sister, Eulalia Gauna of Karnes City; grandchildren, Rudy Jr., Ernest Jr., Megan, Mark Jr., Jacob, Angelica, Romaldo Jr., Paul, Sara, Courtney, Bryan, Laura and Fela; and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Beeville with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial will follow in Evangelico Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernest Ibarra Jr., Rudy Diaz Jr., Romaldo "Tiny" Camacho Jr., Jacob Velasquez, Paul Camacho and Nick Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Velasquez Jr. and Bryan Camacho.
