Maria Guadalupe (Cantu) Harwell, 65, of Beeville, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2019.
Ms. Harwell was born Dec. 12, 1953, in Beeville to Alejandro H. and Lilia (Contreras) Cantu. She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devine Mercy, and was actively involved with the upkeep of the adoration chapel. She enjoyed listening to Neil Diamond and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alejandro and Lilia Cantu; three brothers, Melivanel Cantu Sr., Alejandro Cantu Jr. and Luis Gerardo Cantu; and an infant sister, Adelina Cantu.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Alan (Julie) Harwell and Neil D. (Jenny) Harwell; and nine sisters, Christella Cantu (Fermin) Trujillo of Silver Spring, Maryland, Emma Cantu Rangel of Hutto, Janie Cantu Steed, Hortencia Cantu, Gloria Cantu Topewith, Lillie Mae Cantu Galaz and Graciela Cantu (Ali) Shirsefat, all of Beeville, Alice Cantu Weyenberg of Victoria and Angelica Cantu (Ron) McClain of Flour Bluff.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Angelus Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary will be recited there at 7 p.m. that evening with Deacon Santos Jones officiating.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard Gonzales officiating.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers will be her nephews, Moses Shirsefat, Melivanel Cantu Jr., Daniel Rangel, Robert Steed, Glen Steed, Richard Dennis and Jason Dennis.
