Maria Abrigo

Maria Criseria (Garza) Abrigo, 85, of Normanna, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012. Mrs. Abrigo was born March 6, 1926, in Bee County to Dionicia Lopez and Ysa Garza. She married Tomas Abrigo Sr. in Bee County in January of 1941. She was a teacher's aide for Tuleta Head Start School and enjoyed attending the Texas Adult Day Care. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Pettus. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tomas Abrigo Sr.; a son, Robert "Bobby" Abrigo; a brother, Luis Garza; three sisters, Manuela Saenz, Isabelle Del Bosque and Santos Rodriguez; and three grandchildren, Kimberly Abrigo, Guadalupe Abrigo Jr. and Sammy Abrigo. Survivors include her children, David (Becky) Abrigo and Linda (Francisco) Medina, both of Houston, Maria Luisa (Melvin Clark) Abrigo of San Antonio, Tomasita (Manuel) Benavidez of Tuleta, Gloria (Jesse Torres) Soliz of Pettus, Lupe (Aurora Gomez) Abrigo of Beeville and Felix (Janet) Abrigo, Tomas Abrigo Jr. and Santiago (Corina) Abrigo, all of Normanna; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Pettus with Father Lukose Thirunelliparambil officiating. Burial followed in the Normanna Cemetery. Pallbearers are Sean Kavakebi, David Abrigo Jr., Israel Charles Jr., Joseph Abrigo, Danny Abrigo and Jasper Arciba. Angelus Funeral Home
