Esther Ortiz

Esther (Mayorga) Ortiz, 77, of Beeville, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016. Mrs. Ortiz was born July 23, 1938, in Skidmore to Armando Mayorga and Eva (Parra) Mayorga. She married Toribio "Toby" Ortiz in Kenedy in 1987, and was a homemaker and a waitress in the galley at NAS Beeville. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Ella Tuck. Survivors include two children, Juanita (Hipolito) Perez of Beeville and David (Gabby) Garcia of Independence, Louisiana; four sisters, Noemi Mayorga, Ruth Mayorga and Elizabeth (Charlie) Laurel, all of Houston, and Hilda (Ted) Tuck of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Hector Mayorga of Houston; eight grandchildren, Inez Gutierrez Jr., Orlando Gutierrez, Krystal Perez, David Joseph Perez, Hipolito P. Perez III, David Garcia Jr., Ashley Kamplain, and Amanda Garcia; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Tuesday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Angelus Funeral Home chapel in Beeville with a prayer service that evening at 7 o'clock. A chapel service was conducted there Wednesday, May 18, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joe Fuentes officiating. Burial followed at Skidmore Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Inez Gutierrez, Orlando Gutierrez, David Joseph Perez, Hipolito Paul Perez III, Joe Vega and Jimmy Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Montoya and Michael Montoya.
