Ernesto Garza

Ernesto DeLuna Garza, 82, passed away on April 29, 2014. He was born April 20, 1932, in Goliad to the late Maria DeLuna Garza and Prudencio Garza. He married Nicanora Garcia Garza in January of 1953. Ernesto enjoyed his time hunting and fishing. He had a love for old tractors and working on them. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. James Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Nicanora Garcia Garza; and sister, Tilita Garza.

Survivors include his children, Ernesto (Zulema) Garza Jr. of Branson, Missouri, Ida (Gabriel) Orozco of Beeville, Texas, Joe (Olivia) Garza of Schroeder, Texas, Alicia (Vincent) Quimby of Round Rock, Texas, Leticia Garza of Beeville, Texas and Robert (Imelda) Garza of Beeville, Texas; grandchildren, Brenda Collins, Ernesto Garza lll, Amanda Carlton, David Barrientes, Mike Barrientes, John Orozco, Jody Orozco, Gina Orozco, Veronica Meurer, Brandi Quimby, Taylor Quimby, Brandon Fuentes, Orlando Garza, Melanie Garza, Hillary Garza and Joshua Garza; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Isabel Garcia of Beeville, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014, from 5 to 9 p.m. and continued on Friday, May 2, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be David Barrientes, John Orozco, Mike Barrientes, Jody Orozco, Brandon Fuentes, Orlando Garza, Taylor Quinmby and Joshua Garza.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

The family sends a special thanks to Dr. Calica, the staff at Hacienda Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Exclusive Home Health & Hospice and La Amistad Adult Care.
