Elena Rivera

Elena C. Rivera, 88 years of age, was born on December 11, 1925, in Live Oak County, and has been called by the Lord on March 8, 2014. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her dedication to her family as a housewife. Elena was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. James Catholic Church. Elena was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rivera Sr.; and her parents, Ernan Sr. and Maria Cortez of Live Oak; a brother, Gilberto Cortez Sr.; sons-in-laws, Joseph G. Carmona and Frank T. Boldt. She is survived by sons, Alfredo (Lupita) Lopez, of Corpus Christi, Tx, Robert (Rosario) Rivera of Schertz, Tx, and Frank Jr. (Eva) Rivera from Beeville, Tx.; two daughters, Mary Elva Boldt of Beeville, Tx and Graciela (Grace) Carmona of Flour Bluff, Tx. Four brothers, Ernan Jr. (Isabel) Cortez of George West, Tx, Frank Sr. (Maria) Cortez of Beeville, Tx, Richard (Maria Louisa) Cortez of Alice, Tx, George (Dora) Cortez of Three Rivers, Tx, two sisters, Delia (Louise) Gutierrez, and Delfina (Joe) Davila from Oakville, Tx. She is also survived by her grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Roland Perez, Frankie Pizana, Abel Lopez, Andy Rivera, Joseph H. Arrisola and Cecil Diaz. A visitation was held on Monday, March 10, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 o'clock that same evening at Angelus Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment followed at Oakville Cemetery in Oakville.
