Biatriz Contreras

Biatriz “Betty” (Ibarra) Contreras, 73, of Beeville, Texas passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022.

Mrs. Contreras was born July 29, 1949, in Waelder, Texas, to Ruben Ibarra and Maria Diaz. After completing her high school education, she became a live-in nanny in Plano, Texas until the children were teenagers. She came back and worked as an Assistant Manager at Church’s Fried Chicken. She was considered a second mom to Buddy and Megan and loved every minute of it.

She loved all her nieces and nephews and would do anything for them. She decided to go back to school and received her child development certification at the former Bee County College. She worked at Trinity Daycare Center and continued until she was hired at A.C. Jones High School daycare in 1991 and would retire after 20 years. During her retirement, she loved to read mystery books, do crossword puzzles, and listen to the music of Elvis and the oldies era. She loved going to the movies and watching Gilmore Girls with Megan. She enjoyed eating at her favorite restaurants, Taqueria Chapala, Taqueria Vallarta, Elder’s Country Market, and New China with her honey, Arturo, whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Rubentino Ibarra; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ibarra; and brother-in-law, Romaldo Ray Camacho Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Arturo Contreras; two sisters, Carmen (Ruell) Gauna of Flour Bluff and Gloria Camacho of Goliad; three brothers, Ernesto Ibarra Sr., Rudy Diaz Sr. and Chris Diaz, all of Beeville; sisters-in-law, Marta Webb of Nashville, Tennessee, Cynthia Clark of Lebanon, Tennessee and Betty Tilghman of The Woodlands, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 26, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o'clock at Angelus Funeral Home in Beeville.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at Our Lady of Victory Church with Father Isaias Estepa officiating.

Burial will follow at Cementerio Evangelico in Beeville.

Pallbearers will be Ernest Ibarra Jr., Rudy Diaz Jr., Jacob Velasquez, Romaldo “Tiny” Camacho Jr., Bryan Willam Camacho, Kyle Willams, Alan Mendez and Efren Garcia.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Velasquez Jr. and Angelica Velasquez.
