Beatrice Cortez

Beatrice (Suniga) Cortez, 82, of Beeville, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012. Mrs. Cortez was born Feb. 7, 1930, in Beeville, to Paula Arguijo and Manuel Suniga. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Paula Suniga; a daughter, Elvia Banda; former husband, Gilberto Cortez; a sister, Elisa Gonzales; and three brothers, Guillermo Suniga, David Suniga and Lino Suniga. Survivors include four sons, Gilbert (Amelia) Cortez of George West, Transito (Maria) Cortez of Corpus Christi; and Tony Cortez and Artie Cortez, both of Beeville; three daughters, Yolanda (Michael) Salinas of Skidmore, Carolyn (Joe) Guerra of Beeville and Diana Acu�a of Corpus Christi; 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Rene Suniga of Beeville; a sister, Kirby Suniga of Beeville; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there Friday evening, May 4, at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in Oakville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Guerra Jr., Randy Cortez, Tyler Cortez, Manuel Cortez, Ermino Arroyos and Jose A. Arredondo. Angelus Funeral Home
