Bangelica (Munoz) Cardenas

Bangelica “Chela” (Munoz) Cardenas, 77, of Beeville, Texas, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 3, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia.

Chela was born March 26, 1947, in Clareville to Refugia "Cuca" (Hernandez) Munoz and Nolberto Munoz Sr. She was a proud 1965 graduate of Skidmore-Tynan High School and married Silverio Cardenas on December 4, 1966 in Clareville. Her family was her proudest accomplishment. She poured her heart into her role as a housewife and mother, finding joy and fulfillment in raising her children, nurturing them with love and wisdom. Her passion for motherhood extended further, as she cherished the title of grandmother to her grandchildren. Listening to music, reading, playing Scrabble and being with her family brought her much happiness.

Chela was preceded in death by her parents, Cuca and Nolberto Munoz Sr.; a brother, Baudencio Munoz; two sisters, Belia (Munoz) Garza and Beda (Munoz) Moreno; and a son, Roque "Rocky" Cardenas.

Survivors include her husband, Silverio “Lefty” Cardenas of Beeville; five children, Ana (Joe) De Los Santos, Silverio “Silver” (Jessica) Cardenas, Claudia Cardenas, Baudencio “Buddy” (Lori) Cardenas and Dahlia Cardenas; four sisters, Bangelina “Bangie” May, Baudelia (Salvador) Andrade, Birginia Puga and Elvira (Rafael) Salazar; two brothers, Benancio (Irene) Munoz and Nolberto (Casilda) Munoz Jr.; 16 grandchildren: 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, November 7, at Angelus Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 12 p.m.

The funeral service will be held there at 12:30 p.m. with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum officiating. Burial will follow in San Pedro Cemetery in Clareville.

Pallbearers will be Abran Herrera, Edward Soto, Rico Cardenas, Jaylin Cardenas, Joshua Cardenas, Landon Cardenas and Leonel Jay Campos-Cardenas.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jake Herrera.
