Amelia Caballero

Amelia "Emma" (Chapa) Caballero, 89, of Beeville, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2015. Mrs. Caballero was born June 18, 1926, in Choate to Enemencia Canales and Herminio Chapa. She married Gil Caballero in Karnes City on July 18, 1942, and was a school cafeteria worker and a Catholic. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and a sister. Survivors include children, Adolfo (Jesusa) Caballero, Otilia Dominguez, Eloisa Aguirre, Amelia Gonsalez, Gil (Mary) Caballero Jr., Lupita (Ruben) Garza and Daniel (Mary) Caballero; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A rosary was recited there that evening at 7 o'clock. The funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Freddie Aguirre Jr., Rene Dominguez, Jose Gonsalez, Gil Caballero III, Ruben Garza Jr. and John Caballero. Angelus Funeral Home
